METHODOLOGY OF THE UNIVERSITY SYSTEM IN THE USA

Conventional universities deem it necessary to pass between 15 and 20 credits for every academic semester, with every subject having between 3 and 5 credits, depending on how important it is for the course and the number of hours given. The equivalent in time of a credit is 10 hours. Credits are also given for practicals and professional experience, seminars, study at home. etc.
Levels of diplomas and degrees, assessment in credits, length of the courses are the following:

- Associate: Between 60 and 90 credits, two years duration, equivalent to the diplomatura.

- Bachelor: Between 120 and 180 credits, four years duration, equivalent to the licenciatura but with less didactic content.

- Master: Between 40 and 80 credits, two years after the Bachelor, recently equivalent to certain postgraduate courses.
